I know, I know. Just how many books can be written on one subject? You’d think there wasn’t any other way to make money besides blogging given the number of books that have been written on this one particular method.
And every single book that I’ve read is just more of the same. Or I should say, every one of them until now.
Yes, folks, I’ve actually found a ‘Blogging for Money’ book, that is different from all the others. Well, different from all the blogging books I’ve read anyway.
First off, who the hell is Daniel Scocco? Well, apart from being the author of a pretty crazy book on monetizing your blogging efforts, he’s the owner of ‘Daily Blog Tips‘.
I’m on his list, and have been for a while, which should tell you something about him right off. I tend to be very picky about whose lists I’m on. Sure, I dont’ mind signing up to get whatever’s on offer, if it’s something I’m interested in.
And as long as they continue to treat me with respect, I’ll hang around. But if they suddenly start clogging my inbox with a pile of junk and ‘buy this’ or ‘I’ve persuaded my best mate to let you have this’, then I’m out of there quicker than a cat out of an open window. Obviously, Daniel hasn’t learned the art of spamming because I haven’t unsubscribed from him yet.
However, what he has learned is the art of blogging. Which is just as well considering that’s what his book is all about.
So what’s in his book that makes it so different?
It’s real is the difference. And I know that might sound kind of strange, but there’s no fancy hype, no talk about making loads of money, no mention of instant traffic. It’s just not about anything that you would expect to be in a book about making money with a blog.
For a start, Daniel talks about building relationships?
I mean, why would you want to build a relationship with people just because they happen to give you the honour of spending their time, reading your content? The only relationship you want with them is their wallet right?
He also mentions the unthinkable - actually linking out to other blogs and sending them your hard earned traffic. Can a guy get any nuttier? Why the hell would you fight tooth and nail to get someone to visit your blog only to tell them to go visit someone else’s? Obviously, he’s a total idiot who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
And, if that isn’t enough to convince you this guy’s a real nutcase, wait till you read what he has to say about the type of content you should put up on your blog. Needless to say, yours truly would never stoop to this level. ![]()
The guy goes on with yet more nutty ideas on how to make money from your blogging efforts. Actually, that’s a lie. The book isn’t really about making money with blogging. It’s more about building great blogs that just happen to make money thanks to the fact that they’re great blogs!
Okay, enough already. In case you haven’t guessed it by now, the book is actually damn good, and even considering the price (your email address), I don’t have a problem recommending you go out and read it. (Note that I actually value my email address a lot more than a few pieces of silver so I consider giving it up to be a high price to pay) Of course, that’s assuming you don’t expect to read more of the same fluff you’ve become accustomed to seeing in any book about blogging.
