And so it seems that Susan Coils has finally arrived folks. I’ve made it to the level of being rated (badly
) over at the Complaints Board. Seems someone didn’t like my exposing Prosper Learning! Go figure.
Today I recieve an email from SEOTeamUSA offering to “repair my reputation” following such a “very damaging complaint". Hmmm. Are these guys for real?
Sure, the complaint is now showing up on Google and no doubt some folks will believe it. Heck, I’ve helped it up the rankings myself!
And it may seem strange that I would actually draw attention to it. So here’s why.
My reputation is extremely important to me. I’ve rattled on about how much so ever since I started out. I have begged and implored you all to do the same. Guard it like the crown jewels, it’s worth more than they are.
So bearing that in mind, how come some guy says I ‘took advantage’ of him?
Well, that would be easier to answer had he actually said how I’d done it. But that’s the great thing about ComplaintsBoard.com You don’t have to give any details. They just let you publish anything you want. Easy since they have a disclaimer at the bottom of the site admitting that they are not responsible for the content published there!
Anyway, I made my own complaint about ‘complaintsboard’. And no doubt it will be the cause of yet another s**t storm.
But I’m kind of too old to play games. Especially when folks want to damage my reputation in the news. Of course, I’m flattered that someone thinks I’m dangerous enough to be worthy of damaging in the first place.
You have a couple of options if a smear campaign is started against you.
Ignore it - chances are it’ll die it’s own death. Spend your time on your business. It’s more productive and ultimately more rewarding.
Fight back - doesn’t have to be dirty. In fact, I strongly recommend you keep it from being so. I admit I’m finding it a bit of a rollercoaster having opted for this particular choice but imo, I feel it justified.
Complaints, allegations, lies… should someone be allowed to publicly damage your reputation without providing evidence to back it up? Only you can decide.
