So obviously there’s something to the theory of earning money by helping others. How else do you explain the continual demand for ‘how to’ products, both on and offline?
Everyone has problems, including yours truly. And when we have problems we go searching for solutions. Those with the solutions are the ones who make the most money.
How do I get traffic to my website? How do I convert visitors to customers? How do I set up tracking so I know which areas to improve and which areas to drop? How do I choose the best keywords for optimising my site? How do I get a date with Vin Diesel? (Ok, a girl can ask right? Somebody out there just might have the answer
)
If you have the solutions that will help someone out, then you have a choice. Do you give them away free? Or do you charge?
Usually, it turns out to be a mix of both. If you are pointing someone in the right direction to a product/service/person that can solve a particular problem, then it’s not costing you anything so why charge? A little kindness goes a long way, even in this day and age.
If, on the other hand, you’ve invested time and money in the solution you’re offering then there’s no reason to feel guilty for charging someone for it.
The beauty of it is that you can earn money either way. Recommending affiliate products (as long as they fit the bill and solve the problem) are a great example of something that doesn’t cost you a dime, yet can earn you a significant amount of money just by recommending the right product to the right person at the right time.
Where folks go wrong and what gives affiliate marketers such a bad name, is recommending products to anyone just in the hope of making a commission. If the product’s no good, or it isn’t what a particular individual needs to solve their problem, your reputation is shot and your money earning potential along with it.
Reputation is key if you’re wanting to work online, just as it is in the offline world. But word gets around so much quicker and a heck of a lot further on the Internet than it does in the real world.
Get a reputation as a moneygrabber and very few folks are going to listen to anything you might have to say. On the other hand, if you’re known as someone who is genuine and honest, you’re likely to have even more folks listening to your advice. Common sense still plays a part, even in this neck of the woods.
If you concentrate your efforts on helping as many people as possible, you’ll find that earning money is a simple by-product of your actions. Personal satisfaction and financial success in one easy step. Wow, how easy can this get?
Oh, and btw, if any of you do know how I can get a date with Vin, then shout up. I can guarantee I won’t be the only one interested in the answer, but please remember that I asked first!
