The trouble with Frank Kern is that he is too good at what he does. I’m not knocking him, but his reach is so widespread, and his mind control so deep that when he says something, instantly it is thought of as ‘gospel’.
And everyone starts trying to copy it. Only they can’t do it effectively because they’re not Frank Kern! And then they start wondering what is it that they’re missing and if Frank says it works, then why isn’t it working?
His video (stunning by the way) on “The Rubberneck Effect” is a case in point. I use this example, because I was discussing it last night while doing a training call. As soon as that video hit the streets, everyone’s inbox was stuffed with ‘rubbernecking’ emails!
Do these people not stop to think that the very people they were mailing had also seen the video? Do they think that we wouldn’t realise what they were doing? Do they think we’re just too dumb to ‘get it’?
Frank released that video and instantly put paid to any results that anyone else could get with it. Maybe in a few months when the furor has died down it may be worth testing again, but at the moment, take my advice and don’t even try it!
Which brings me to my point, (you knew I’d get here eventually right?).
Frank Kern gets away with this stuff because of the persona he’s developed. He has built up his image so that we all believe he’s just some ’surfing dude’ who knows a thing or two. And if a ’surfing dude’ can do it, then so can anyone else. Right?
Wrong!
Frank Kern is not some dude who spends his time surfing and fooling around, with a little dose of marketing on the side. Frank Kern is a very clever, extremely astute, marketer. And don’t be fooled into thinking anything else.
There isn’t a hope in hell of anyone using his methods and getting the same results because there is only one Frank Kern.
Unfortunately, if you’re not experienced enough to recognise this, then you are likely to get burned in the follow up.
Quit trying to copy the ‘gurus’. Quit trying to be someone you’re not.
Start building YOU.inc and you will get a lot more success. Frank Kern was raving about having over 20% of his e-mails opened. I get up to 40% of mine opened! And I don’t use the rubbernecking effect.
Be yourself and you could end up being a whole lot more successful than Frank Kern.

But right on the money as usual.
Frank Kern is fabulous and I love his stuff. But trying to copy him is a waste of everyone's time and energy. Just won't work and people need to realise why.
You ar right susan, you have got to be yourself, after all that is the role you need to fill and none other!
