I’m going to let you in on a little secret. The people who make it rich with this ‘make money online’ malarkey are the one’s whose marketing bullshit meter is set to zero. If you’re willing to suffer even the tiniest amount of bullshit you don’t stand a snowflake in hell’s chance of making it online. I kid you not.
Look, I may not be the savviest marketer out there, but even I know that the whole point of this ‘online’ stuff is to make money. And because of that, it stands to reason that in order to make money you have to sell stuff. And in order to sell something you have to have someone to sell it to. See, I get it, I really do.
I also know that one of the best ways to sell stuff to people is to get their permission so you can do just that. But, (and here’s where my problem lies), I don’t see how you can expect to sell anything if you can’t be bothered to earn that sale.
If all you can do is copy and paste the blurb from a sales page, of a product you’ve never tried, or even worse, you just write, “get this, it’s great, you can’t live without it”… then how the hell do you expect anyone to believe you and just go out and buy it.
I’ve had a number of mails lately all using the exact same message to tell me about the exact same product. Now you might think that when a lot of marketers are promoting a product, then it must be a good product right?
Well, if all those marketers can tell you something specific about it that has helped them, or the difference it’s made to their results, then you might want to go check it out for yourself. But when nobody can be bothered to come up with anything unique, there’s a problem. That’s not proof of a good product. In fact, it’s more likely to be proof of an extremely bad product.
See, if they haven’t used it or if they have and can’t come up with anything worthwhile of their own to say, then the product can’t have much going for it can it? The hope is that because you’re on their list, you’ll just blindly buy whatever they tell you to buy. Their buddy gets hailed as some super hero and they make some commissions.
Meanwhile, you find yourself with more money going out of your pocket and still nothing coming in.
Take a tip from me. Run a mile from regurgitated product recommendations. I don’t care who sends them. Well actually I do. Cos if I’m on their list I need to get off it.
There’s enough crap to be found if you’re searching the Internet looking for ways to make money. You don’t need to have it sent to your inbox.
The secret to making money online is work. Sure there are ways and tools to make that work easier and quicker. But how many article spinners / submitters do you need? How many keyword tools? How many training courses? …. Sooner or later, you have to accept that no matter how many tools you have in your arsenal, the only way to make money is by putting them to work, not by buying more of them.
Lol, it’s like the never ending battle I have with losing weight. I’ve lost track of how much money I’ve wasted on exercise equipment, DVD’s etc. But you know what? I buy them, use them a couple of times and then figure they’re no good cos I haven’t managed to get the body I want so I go looking for a better, quicker alternative. (no wonder the weight loss niche is so damn lucrative).
There isn’t one of course. The secret is sticking with the equipment I’ve got and actually putting it to use. Same goes for making money online. You already have everything you need. So quit wasting your time ploughing through all the marketing bullshit and just get to it.
